ADBERT Media is a media advertising agency that provides advertisement strategy, online advertising, and content creation for clients from various industries, including entertainment, automotive, beverages, and more.

As a visual designer on the team, my primary objective was to understand clients' needs and the outcomes they anticipated for their marketing and branding efforts. I created content that effectively communicated messages to consumers, promoted products or services, and enhanced the overall impact of advertising campaigns.

THE CHALLENGES

There were three major challenges I faced in my position.

Fast-paced Environment

How to ensure efficient work and high-quality content delivery within short time frames?

Multitasking

As the only designer handling 1-4 projects daily, how to make sure each project is on track while collaborating effectively with peers?

Negotiation

When conflicts between projects arise, how to find the best solution that fits everyone's needs?

Management is the KEY

While managing multiple projects simultaneously, I used color coding to categorize them into three different levels: Easy, Medium, and Advanced. Combined with a calendar, this approach not only kept me organized but also enhanced transparency and effective communication with my cross-functional peers.

COLLABORATION

The Account Executive, Product Manager, and Engineers were the cross-functional peers I worked closely with.

TAKEAWAYS

This was my first time working as the solo designer in a company and collaborating with nearly 10 cross-functional peers. I realized that communication skills are crucial for me as a designer. Getting accurate information is more important than the visual design itself. It empowers me to make the right design decisions and work efficiently.

Template Development

I constantly met with engineers starting in the ideation phase to understand the constraints we would have and to ensure the design was feasible for development and could be launched within the limited time frame. Working with engineers always gave me new perspectives on my design.

Animated Ads

Some projects that were more complicated required additional support from the engineers. Therefore, we communicated in advance to ensure the project was achievable and to determine how long it would take to complete end-to-end.

Animated Ads

They acted as a bridge between me and the clients. They understood the client's needs and preferences through the relationships they built, enabling me to make the right design decisions. It was also important for me to understand the timeline, scope, and request any existing resources at the beginning of each project.

Template Development

The Account Executive shared their insights from current trends and competitive research with me to help narrow down our focus for the new template collections.

Template Development

I collaborated with the product manager to brainstorm the themes and directions for the new template collections we developed each quarter. We discussed the product timeline with the engineers and met at every checkpoint.

TEMPLATES DESIGN

Every quarter, I collaborated with representatives, engineers, and the product manager to brainstorm and develop 1-3 new animated templates, ensuring our ad content creation remained creative and up-to-date with current trends.
